Since my resent tweeter projects went through so successfully and since I would like to stay with ability to adjust the tweeters output:

I wonder who makes good L-pads. Currently I use r...

Since the PP2000 works in my playback a bit over two weeks I think it would be worth to mention the changes that I observed after two weeks.
The HF and upper mid region returned back. Not completely but most of it. They returned without mind-oppres...

and this is the huge decision.. although Steve and Rich's drivers do have the potential for extremely wide bandwidth, I feel that the first decision when designing a horn speaker is to decide how many horns and the corresponding crossover points...

A German company Avatar Acoustics makes loudspeakers with adjustable positioning of their ribbon-tweeter. This is very much with the context of this thread although I’m questioning a lot of things in those loudspeakers (pretty much everything beside ...

Romy,
No, the DAC was not set at maximum level (for best sound) while Cyrille listening to the system. It was set at normal volume for the whole system. When Cyrille dropped by, I was showing him the Field Coil open baffle speaker system which con...
I stepped away from the idea of horn tweeters. A horn is equalization devise that boost lower knee. If people need to spread a tweeter in MF then it is OK but in my case my tweeter sits at 12.5K and I do not need any gain a...
It seems from following these threads that no one so far has been content to stay focused on recreating the accidental success of the original Dunnoy/Dannoy. Is this because no one can actually recreate the original, or is it bec...

Actually the S2 above 8Khz, or what ‘nl’ calls the “breakup range”, is something that I absolutely certainly would like do NOT loose. I very much like what S2 at it’s 10-12Hz. It might be a bit brutal in some cases; I reported it at the beginning...

I agree Steverino, IMHO Bass in the most tricky part of audio!
A couple of things I found out that help. Most importantly, Time Alignment! Not just between the channels crossing right to the next frequencies, but the whole system should be time alig...

BTW, I was not kidding about the dual-concentric 8” Fane. They did make a version of Studio 8M with a tweeter in the middle. I have it sitting in my driver storage…Another BTW: the tractrix curve was not introduced by Br...

I talked for a couple of hours today with a local Solar Power technician, I sort of told him all the gear I have that would need to run on batteries and we got a shaky number; from that number he started calculating a bunch of panels and batteries a...

Alas, no time for anything at the moment, the listening valuation must await construction of the amps (and speakers...)Also, it is a very custom application - it is designed to drive an array of ribbon tweeters. Normally these have matching transform...

This weekend I found some transformers in my storage and I put together the Baby Melquiades headphone amplifier. It turns out to be very cure little amp. It is 9'x9' but has all Milq’s incidents including the choke intuit supply for plates and t...

All-I'm optimizing new speakers, but the deep subject matter is a little new to me. Will this work?Using a pair of Welborne Labs DRD300B SET amps (tapped 8ohms) with a 3-way passive crossover to integrate these drivers. Here is ...

Rony,
There are two possibilities as I can see them.
First is that your new hybrid amp just simply better then you former amp. Between us in case of Threshold, Jeff Rowland or McIntoshes it would not be so hard to come by to a better am, not to me...

Well, it took almost two month and much more money then I thought but I was eventually able to get very decent sound out of monitors. The SL600 sitting on my “fundamental channel’s” tripods did not do well as I told before and I was forced to s...

We have tested live recordings against live sound, a recording of a jazz singer was done on Reel tape on an Ampex ATR modded machine with Fluxmagnetics heads etc. The microphone used was the legendary Telefunken stereo tube mic. no post producti...

I recently spoke with Paul Eizik regarding the criticality of the open-air mounting of that driver instead of baffle-mounting. I decided to go extreme and to get rid of that plate that I had under the driver no mater now small it was, also I thought ...

I should have said UP or Down in the listening chair. Toward and away from the speakers will also do it, unless you're sitting midway between tweeter and mid of course, but not to the extent of up/down will.I just did an experiment with some fishing ...
Romy, don't be silly. You are trying to tell me you cannot hear vertical position? You cannot tell if the cat meows, if it is on the ground or the ceiling. Of course you can; do not be ridiculous.
Well, this for the tip of multi-layering the vertical panel. I like it a lot. I will allow keeping the mild panel thinner and more “airy” visually. The total high of the thing will be not 8’ for rather somewhere slightly above 6’. Also, I review the ...
